2006 (September) Safe Passage Follow-Up
Hanley Denning returned to the Cumberland Club in Portland on September 20 to provide May Roundtable participants with an update on
Safe Passage's extraordinary progress and further details on a pending visit by grantee volunteers to continue to move things forward in Guatemala.
In addition to its School and Hotel (Lazos Fuertes) Training programs, Safe Passage now has an Early Intervention Center; a beautiful Community Garden created by 15 Masters’ level landscape design students from Washington University in Seattle; a Metal Working vocational program; and an Events Center in the works.
Hanley provided details about how Safe Passage’s expansion has been accomplished at a grass roots, community level, and roundtable participants explored skills and knowledge they might share to help Guatemalans continue to grow and sustain the Safe Passage programs.
